1050 CHUM 1980’s and 90’s AM Stereo

I had two AM stereo receivers that I purchased in the 1980’s and some of these clips were recorded on those. All segments are taken from radio contests on 1050 CHUM when they broadcast in stereo.

A disclaimer : 1050 CHUM was also on cable FM  in stereo and that may have been the source for some of the recordings.

I have previously uploaded some of these to the site.

  1. I’ll have to find the photos I took when I spent a few hours up on the Government controlled floor in the CN Tower checking out all the Collins Broadcast Transmitters. That is what CHUM FM uses to broadcast from the CN Tower. The photos came out great, except I wish I had a wide-angle lens at that time.

In 1986 I moved back to Dallas from Buffalo, and started working for Continental Electronics in Dallas. I worked in their Commercial Broadcast Transmitter Mfg. area. They had previously purchased the Collins FM transmitter line, which are identical to what was installed in the CN Tower. We had one of these at KVIL-FM in Dallas where I also worked. Great transmitters!
