This blog will cover mostly radio and media . I plan to house interesting clips ( airchecks) from radio stations many of which I recorded on a 4 track reel to reel tape deck. There are also air checks that I have rescued from mildew and mold as they were languishing in second hand or antique shops. The Radio London air check is an example and it’s from a time well before I began recording anything. I will add some context and information about each entry. Site is strictly non profit and dedicated to preserving radio broadcasts from the past.
Most of the radio stations featured had a progressive free form or AOR format but there’s also some classic rock and top 40/Oldies content. I will occasionally highlight overlooked musical gems and cover other media and music related topics.
Also featuring webcasts and radio station for a current day iteration of the old free form format.
This blog and the radio station are works in progress that hopefully will evolve and improve as time passes.
Check out the radio related pictures I have saved below. Will add them every now and then I have a large magazine collection and have just started to load some pictures from them but it will take me a long time to go through those and find the radio related content.
A note to announcers who’s work is posted here: I have uploaded these clips for historical and archival purposes only and if you do not want your work posted here please let me know and I will remove it.

I just found this site and it’s great. I was a teenager in the 1970’s and this is how I remember good radio. Keep ’em coming!
ogawd keep bringing the Boston FM clips!
What a great source of the best progressive rock I’ve heard in my lifetime. I’ll be 83 in September 2019, but I wasn’t too old back in the late 60’s on to appreciate the creativity of the musicians.
I’ve been playing percussion all my life and it was a breath of fresh air to discover this site.
I’d like to download some of the radio clips to listen to on other than on my desktop. I would not allow any access to them other than for my own personal use.
Please let me know if this is permitted.
Sorry Frank but downloads are not allowed by my copyright licence.
I noticed you have a lot of clips of Psychedelic Sunday with Mr Frost which was a favourite of mine since the 80s. Do you have the theme song which started with Walter/Wendy Carlos’
“Title Music from A Clockwork Orange” and then included other tunes, I think , maybe, Alice Cooper? It’s been so long since I heard it, It was such a great theme.
I may have that intro somewhere. I have some air checks of the show that I have not uploaded yet mostly from around 2014/15. Hope to find the intro one day.
With the passing of Commander Cody I remember a live broadcast on WBCN from probably 1971. Would love to hear that, is it out there?
Jack
Sorry I am no familiar with the Commandeer Cody concert at WBCN but I would not be surprised if there is a bootleg floating around somewhere of the concert. My clearest memory of hearing the Commander on progressive radio is from a time I was maybe 16 and we were visiting a family friend of my father. The friend had a nice Grundig radio/receiver and I played around with it and tuned into CHUM FM and they played Beat Me Daddy Eight to the Bar by Commander Cody.

Just found this site. Will be spending some time here.
That said, I am just beginning to write a book about every Canadian song that hit the rom top 100 and compare it to charts across the country.
I see you had a couple ckoc charts. Do you have more? Looking for 1980-1985 (aug) if you perhaps do.
Thanks is advance for any help.
