WBCN FM April 1971 Charles Laquidara & Captain Squid

***A note to air check traders. Please do not record these air checks and try and trade. I have the original tapes many of which I recorded myself and thus the authenticity can not be in doubt and can be easily traced.

More from WBCN FM one of the best commercial free form stations in the US.  The DJ is Charles Laquidara with help from Captain Squid and station PD Norm Winer. Fantastic and genre bending music by way of Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Tom Rush and more.

  1. Another wonderful offering! Thanks for all the great stuff you share. It’s a thrill to hear recordings from this very special period in radio history.

    1. Wish I still had that Jethro Tull album…I played this song, a new day yesterday and look into the sun over and over!

  2. Great stuff! I was a student at Worcester Tech from 1968-1972 and still miss WBCN – I listened to them all the time. Their DJs were top notch, hip, and innovative, with off-the-wall tracks leading one into the next and somehow all tying together. I still have a reel-to-reel recording of an entire off-air Grateful Dead/New Riders concert that they broadcast (although my reel-to-reel deck hasn’t worked in years).

    1. Wow the Grateful Dead and NRPS . Must have been during the time that Jerry Garcia played with both bands.
